{"id":5728,"date":"2021-11-23T19:34:28","date_gmt":"2021-11-24T00:34:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.proamazonia.org\/?p=5728"},"modified":"2023-03-13T11:12:27","modified_gmt":"2023-03-13T16:12:27","slug":"comunidades-de-tres-provincias-amazonicas-fortalecen-sus-capacidades-en-monitoreo-forestal-comunitario","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.proamazonia.org\/en\/comunidades-de-tres-provincias-amazonicas-fortalecen-sus-capacidades-en-monitoreo-forestal-comunitario\/","title":{"rendered":"Communities of three Amazonian Provinces strengthen their Community Forest Monitoring capacities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><em><strong>Forest rangers, officers, leaders, women leaders, commune women and men, communities, peoples and nationalities of Ecuador are trained in diverse Community Forest Monitoring issues.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>As part of the technical assistance that the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provides to the Ministry of the environment, Water and Ecological Transition, within the framework of the Integral Amazon Program for the Conservation of Forests and Sustainable Production (PROAmazon\u00eda), the phase of strengthening community monitoring capacities is developed in its face-to-face modality,\u00a0 with participants from communities in three provinces of the Amazon region: Sucumb\u00edos, Morona Santiago and Zamora Chinchipe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe training events allow us to implement direct actions in our forests to monitor and identify if there are changes in their structure\u201d commented Humberto Antuash from the Achuar Wampuik Community.<\/p>\n<p>In this training process, information has been collected on the importance, perception and interests of women and men of the communities in relation to the areas of forest of which they depend both directly and indirectly. Daniel Grefa \u00a0from the Kichwa Itaya Community in Sucumb\u00edos added that \u00a0\u201cforest monitoring is interesting\u201d as, thereby, the inhabitants of the Amazon forests can \u201cfind out what trees we have and where they are located\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops have been spaces for open discussion, where it has been promoted that the male and female participants become an integral part of the monitoring system design.
