{"id":6638,"date":"2022-06-27T09:58:32","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T14:58:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.proamazonia.org\/?p=6638"},"modified":"2023-10-17T23:24:59","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T04:24:59","slug":"ecuador-presenta-en-italia-su-oferta-de-cafe-amazonico-sostenible-y-libre-de-deforestacion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.proamazonia.org\/en\/ecuador-presenta-en-italia-su-oferta-de-cafe-amazonico-sostenible-y-libre-de-deforestacion\/","title":{"rendered":"In Italy, Ecuador presents its supply of sustainable and deforestation-free Amazonian coffee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Milan, June 23, 2022<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From June 23-25, an Ecuadorian delegation conformed by authorities of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Ecological Transition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and producers of Amazonian coffee participate in the\u00a0 \u201cWorld of Coffee\u201d Fair, an international event that takes place every year in an itinerant fashion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On this occasion, the 2022 edition of the coffee specialized fair will take place in the city of Milan, where representatives of the leading companies of the sector meet to show their state-of-the-art\u00a0 tendencies regarding production, handling and commercialization of specialty coffee at a world-wide level.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The delegation is composed by directors from\u00a0 APECAP, ACRIM\u00a0 and the Federation of Southern Coffee Growers of Ecuador (FAPECAFES), which puts together six productive associations that benefit 400 families of the Provinces of El Oro, Loja and Zamora. This participation represents an opportunity for Ecuador to deploy, in differentiated markets, the efforts that it is making to encourage a sustainable and deforestation-free production and, in this case, sustainable Amazonian coffee, which meets with the highest\u00a0 quality standards, while incorporating environmentally sound and responsible agricultural practices that contribute to the preservation of the forest and prevent the expansion of the agricultural frontier.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These actions are part of the monitoring pilot of deforestation and traceability promoted through\u00a0 PROAmazon\u00eda, a program from the National Government that is supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP),\u00a0 which encourages the conservation of the forests and the sustainable,\u00a0 gender-based and intercultural deforestation-free production in the Ecuadorian Amazonia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In December 2021, the interest of the Italian company\u00a0 LAVAZZA\u00a0 was confirmed to purchase a\u00a0 250, 69 kilo-sack container of Ecuadorian Amazonian Arabica coffee, which is under a monitoring and traceability system to promote forest conservation .\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Association of Ecological Coffee Growers of Palanda Canton (APECAP)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Organic Artisan Producers Agricultural Association \u201cCuencas del R\u00edo Mayo\u201d (ACRIM) <\/span>Is located in the City of Zumba on the south of the Province of Zamora Chinchipe.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">70% of the coffee commercialized by FAPECAF\u00c9S\u00a0 comes from the\u00a0 Association of Ecological Coffee Growers of Palanda\u00a0 (APECAP) and from the Organic Artisan Producers Agricultural Association \u201cCuencas del R\u00edo Mayo\u201d (ACRIM), who\u00a0 are also part of the deforestation and traceability monitoring pilot through PROAmazon\u00eda.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The business relation between FAPECAFES and LAVAZZA, for the first export of sustainable and deforestation-free Amazonian coffee represents a milestone at the international level, as it is part of Ecuador\u2019s pioneer initiative to reduce deforestation through the REDD+
