Coordinated and articulated work between the Ministry of Environment and Water and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock with other institutions such as Decentralized Autonomous Governments is critical in order to stop deforestation and climate change.
PROAmazonía strengthens territorial planning (PDOT) and life plans with a focus on conservation, sustainable production, climate change, gender and interculturality.

99% of the deforested area in Ecuador has been transformed into agricultural areas, for this reason, PROAmazonía supports the transformation of traditional production systems into sustainable agro-production systems, free of deforestation, so as to control and limit the growth of the agrarian border.

PROAmazonía works with 4 commodities that are considered the main causes of deforestation.

Forests are a natural solution to address climate change and their conservation involves a number of significant transformations in natural resource management, production and land use policies.
PROAmazonía strengthens forest conservation; through the financing of areas of the Socio Bosque Project, incentives for restoration actions, promotion of bio-enterprises, sustainable forest management and forest traceability, as well as basin vision management.

Ecuador completed its preparation phase for REDD+ in 2016 and to ensure its PROAmazonía operation supports the preparation of reports for the United Nations Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

PROAmazonía promotes coordinated efforts between the different institutions involved and supports the establishment of financial mechanisms to channel REDD+ resources and private sector involvement.
